Family Promise
Praise God! At our Family Promise meeting on Tuesday, May 12, it was
announced that we now have thirteen churches in the valley that have
agreed, either verbally or in writing, to be host sites for the
program. We are now well on our way to becoming an integral and
functioning part of life in the valley. We ask that you be in prayer
that more will come on board to serve God’s will and become a part
of this exciting program.
We are in the final stages of approval for a site for the Family
Center where the families in the program will have access to job,
family housing, and employment assistance and guidance. Family
Promise of Shenandoah County was awarded a $2,000 grant from the
Shenandoah Community Foundation for which we are very thankful!
Several fundraisers are in the works and many more will be upcoming.
Raising the necessary funds to complete the renovations, hire a
director, and launch the affiliate is our next challenge and we
encourage individuals, churches and groups to consider what they can
do to make that happen. The Fund Development Committee and the FP
Board is also working to coordinate and organize this important
step. If anyone has ideas or input, please let us know.
A small group of our volunteers recently visited the Roanoke center
to get ideas and to see how others are working God’s will through
this exciting program. They came back with great ideas and a better
understanding of what we need to do and where we are headed.
As of May 13, 2015, the following congregations have agreed to serve
as host sites.
Antioch Church of the Brethren,
Valley Pike Church of the Brethren, Saumsville Christian Church,
Wakeman's Grove Church of the Brethren, St. John's United Methodist
Church, Strasburg Christian Church, St. John's Bosco Catholic
Church, Lebanon Lutheran Church,
the Mitchell Family, Restoration Fellowship, Emanuel Lutheran
Church/Caroline Furnace Camp, Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church and
Strasburg/Narrow Passage Assembly of God. Please continue to pray
for God's direction for Shenandoah County Family Promise
organization and the families we will serve. For additional
information or questions, please contact Mary Ann Gardner at

Our next meeting will be held on June 30 at the Valley Pike Church
of the Brethren at 83 Headley Rd, Maurertown, VA 22644. Prayer
meeting will begin at 6:00pm, orientation for newcomers at 6:30, and
general meeting at 7:00pm.
