The Sister of the Congregation of Christians or Disciples of Christ, at Strasburg, Va.

To their Beloved Sisters in Christ at ............................................................................................................

Greetings:

Dearly Beloved in the Lord:

The Congregation, at this place, have in process of erection a Church Edifice of moderate dimensions, the cost of which will be from $2500 to $3000.  They have over half of this amount subscribed, to be paid in money, work, and material, which is as much as the congregation feel able to contribute.  We have thought, therefore, that it would be proper and consistent with the principles of our Holy Religion, to solicit aid of those who may have something to spare of the means with which the Lord has blessed them; "So that now their abundance may be a supply for our want and that hereafter our abundance may be a supply for their want, that there may be equality."  The late war deprived us of so much of our means and left us so much impoverished in the Valley of Va., that we are reduced to the necessity of asking help from our sisters abroad.

Any contribution in money, glass, nails, hinges, carpentering, will be thankfully received.

Material (by Railroad) can be conveniently sent to Elder Obed Funk, Strasburg, Shenandoah Co., Va., who will promptly acknowledge the receipt of money or material, with thanks for the same.

Sarah A. Rittenour,  Mary S. Funk, Frances Jennings, Barbara Ramey, Catharine Pirkey, O. C. Stickley.

The ladies named above are members of our congregation at Strasburg, Va, and have truly represented us in the foregoing statements.

Elders;  John Pirkey, Obed Funk, H. K. Jennings, N. D. Rittenour.
